2022 Chevrolet Tahoe: engine and transmission complaints

VERY HIGH COMPLAINT SIGNAL
63%
111 of 177 relevant owner complaints are about the engine, transmission or fuel system

63% of relevant owner complaints filed with NHTSA on the 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe are about the engine, transmission or fuel system. Well over half of everything owners reported is the drivetrain. That is a severe model-level pattern; every model year we track at this level has a documented failure behind it.

Worse than 83% of the 1,230 model years we track (2010–2023).

Excludes 7 airbag, lighting and seat-belt recall complaints that would otherwise mask the signal (unadjusted: 60%).

Manufacturers fix things mid-generation. A bad year next to a clean one is common; the fix usually arrived in between.

Same car, a better year

Other full-size SUVs with no elevated signal in 2022

The percentage is each model year's drivetrain complaint share. No elevated signal describes the model year, not any one car; a well-kept example of a flagged model can still be the right buy, and any of these still needs an inspection.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM04/27/20261 INJURED
My 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe diesel unexpectedly lost power while driving. I was stopped, made a right turn, and accelerated to approximately 34–40 mph on a two-way street when the vehicle suddenly shook, shifted into neutral, and the engine shut off without warning. There were no warning lights, dashboard messages, or prio…
POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE08/31/2026
Had a engine failure at 93,000 miles and upon doing a vin report found out it also had a engine put it at 7,800 miles so it now has its third engine in it and also had the high pressure pump fail and the gauge cluster fail and had to be replaced
FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM08/28/2026
Driving 55mph on highway with cars behind me and vehicle stalls. Almost rear ended. Fuel pump control module failed.

Three of 111 drivetrain complaints. The full report shows more, with quotes about the engine in the car you are looking at first.
