2023 Chevrolet Tahoe: engine and transmission complaints

VERY HIGH COMPLAINT SIGNAL
78%
158 of 202 relevant owner complaints are about the engine, transmission or fuel system

78% of relevant owner complaints filed with NHTSA on the 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe are about the engine, transmission or fuel system. Well over half of everything owners reported is the drivetrain. That is a severe model-level pattern; every model year we track at this level has a documented failure behind it.

Worse than 97% of the 1,230 model years we track (2010–2023).

Excludes 10 airbag, lighting and seat-belt recall complaints that would otherwise mask the signal (unadjusted: 75%).

Manufacturers fix things mid-generation. A bad year next to a clean one is common; the fix usually arrived in between.

Other full-size SUVs with no elevated signal in 2023

The percentage is each model year's drivetrain complaint share. No elevated signal describes the model year, not any one car; a well-kept example of a flagged model can still be the right buy, and any of these still needs an inspection.

1 week and 1 day later we are stranded again on the side of highway going full speed in our Tahoe. This vehicle has 83,000 miles o…

We were driving full speed down the highway and the vehicle completely shut down steering wheel locked and we were stranded for six hours. Turns out the dealer said it was just the battery and they fixed the grounding of the battery. I’m sorry but I’m not satisfied with this response. I’m scared to drive this vehicle.
